Teachers Network Vist to Aalto Design Factory

9 members of the PIEp Teacher’s Network participated in a study trip to the Design Factory at Helsinki Aalto University on 10 -11 December 2009.

Highlights of the trip were a guided tour and a presentation of the Design Factory, the Usability Lab and the University of Design and Art.

Several topics were discussed, including holding a PIEp Research School workshop at the Design Factory, Teacher exchange, Student collaboration, Research collaboration and a common research project. A summary of the discussions is available as a pdf document.

Network for educators in product innovation

The network gathers educators and interested participants among the PIEp nodes. The purpose of the network is to promote course- and program development in the area of innovation, innovative product development as well as more general synergies between universities and educators.
A series of workshops are offered within the framework of the network, typically one every semester. PIEp typically funds several participants from each node. Please notify the PIEp EDU coordinator (marting@PIEp.se) if you’d like to receive more information about upcoming workshops or wish to participate in the network.

* Umeå Institute of Design: The role of the industrial designer in product development and the design process.
* Jönköping University and Jönköping Science Park: Integrating SMEs and higher education; a company for each student and a student for each company.

Mobility program for educators

PIEp encourage educators to participate in national and international networks and activities to improve educational capacities in product innovation. Funds are available for educators to spend time at universities or companies in Sweden and abroad.
