OPEN INNOVATION: OPPORTUNITIES & OBSTACLES
At PIEp, the Product Innovation Engineering
program, we promote an open climate for increased innovation capability. In this spirit, we would like to invite you to our Annual Event on Tuesday 24th November.
Our theme this year is
Open Innovation, shedding light on this phenomena from different angles as experienced by companies. Innovation as the creation and realization of new ideas is seldom the result of a single person. Instead, it usually takes place within a system of actors: technology specialists, business people, inventors, entrepreneurs, etc. One of the issues PIEp addresses is the development of Innovation Capability by strengthening the system of academia and industry and by opening up the borders between actors in innovation systems.
PIEp also seeks to lift up and survey, preferably from a practical perspective, the different phenomena that affect innovation in society. Open Innovation is one such phenomenon, dealing with how knowledge that is held within so many different carriers can best be used in various contexts to create value.
At the PIEp 2009 Annual Event, we would like you to have the opportunity to listen to people who have gained insight into open innovation (and of “closed innovation”). Our speakers represent companies (both large and small, new and old) and come to share
experiences that illustrate the opportunities and the obstacles of Open Innovation. There will also be time for an open discussion.
