PIEp operates a long-term capacity building for improved innovation capacity of people and organizations.

Research projects have either a focus on innovation processes: how to organize and lead to greater innovation or focus on product innovation: new knowledge about new technologies for new features and new values​​. Some projects have both perspectives. PIEp also runs development projects that usually have a shorter time frame. The case of innovation projects and aims at new products, new business but can also refer to the new courses and new offerings to the economy.
